The Walk to Emmaus is a transformational three-day program designed to strengthen the faith of Christian people and, through their discipleship, to strengthen their families, their congregations, and the world in which they live. Emmaus is a partnership between lay and clergy for the renewal of the church. The program focuses on discovering the abundance of God's grace in our own lives and learning to live into that grace fully, while sharing that grace with others.
Once faith communities become aware of The Walk to Emmaus, they may contact Upper Room Ministries® and seek to offer this program locally. The need and demand for the program has grown steadily since its first offering in 1979. Today more than 350 communities around the world offer The Walk to Emmaus. Programs in the United States are self-sustaining, but the goal of Upper Room Ministries is to expand this program internationally.
The 70 international communities who already offer The Walk to Emmaus need help to subsidize costs for training and program resources that make The Walk to Emmaus effective. In addition, Upper Room Ministries receives numerous inquiries each month from international communities that want to offer The Walk to Emmaus but do not have the financial resources to fund the modest start-up costs and ongoing expenses. Upper Room Ministries is seeking essential financial support to help expand The Walk to Emmaus around the world.
